Epidac 2 HB Aluminium Epoxy Primer – Item 115

A high build epoxy primer compliant to Environmental Protection Act (1990) Clause 20(d) Guidance Notes PG6/23 (97). Typically used as a maintenance primer to give improved adhesion and flexibility when applied to manually clean steelwork and existing aged coatings. Excellent adhesion to clean bright galvanised steel. Tolerant of surface moisture.

Shelf Life : 2 years in unopened containers when stored under cover in good storage conditions.
Storage : Under cover with temperature range of 5°C to 32°C.
Surface Preparation : Power-clean or abrade to remove all flaking or poorly adherent paint back to a firm ‘feathered’ edge.
Abrade existing sound paint if a gloss finish.
Degrease with Dacrylate Thinner R5.
Application Conditions : Temperature above 4°C.
Humidity less than 90% RH.
Epidac 2 HB Aluminium primer can be applied direct to damp/wet surfaces. Brush application is the preferred application method to ensure displacement of water from the substrate.
Application : Apply by brush, roller, airless/air-assisted airless or conventional spray.
Airless spray : Tip pressure 2500psi (170 bar). Tip size 13-15 Thou (0.33-0.38mm).
Apply to wet film thickness of approximately 175 microns to achieve a dry film thickness of 125 microns, or approximately 100 microns to achieve a dry film thickness of 75 microns.
Conventional spray : May require up to 15% addition of Dacrylate Thinner R5 to achieve optimum application characteristics.
Pot Life (at 20°C) : 4 hours
Mixing ratio by volume : 4 : 1
Clean-up : Dacrylate Thinner R5.
